Ray Tracing with Zheng & Jeroen
This notebook, started by Dahlen in Jan 1992, revolves around Ray Tracing work done with Zheng Wang and Jeroen Tromp. The notebook is contained in a dark orange binder and contains both handwritten notes by Dahlen as well as photocopied exerpts of both papers and textbook chapters relevant to his work.

The notebook starts off with Dahlen's thoughts of M. V. Berry who is an English mathematical physicist, known for the Berry phase which presents itself in quantum mechanics as the phase difference picked up upon revolving around a closed geometry. Dahlen most likely read this in junction with Jeroen Tromp, who used the Berry phase in his thesis, the notes of which can be found in another collection on this site, "Surface Wave Variational Principles - Jeroen's notes." In addition to this are the mailed notes of Roel Snieder, a geophysicist at the Colorado School of Mines, which Dahlen comments upon. The final third of the notebook concludes with the notes and ultimate thesis crafted by Junho Um, who was at the time Dahlen's graduate student.
